About Rick Stinton

Get to know more about what makes us different.

After 50 years of being discipled and discipling leaders, Rick has created “Hearts on FireDiscipleship.” He is passionate about passing on the torch by equipping equippers with God’s Word to build up the body of Christ.
  • God has graciously blessed Rick with the gift of being personally discipled by some of the best in evangelical biblical scholarship: 1) Dr. Bruce Waltke, professor emeritus at Regent College, Vancouver; 2) Dr. Allen Ross, Old Testament Chair; 3) Dr. Darrell Bock, Senior Research Professor of New Testament Studies; and 4) Dr. Howard Hendricks, Christian Education Chair. The latter three mentors are former/present faculty members at Dallas Theological Seminary.

  • Received a Master of Theology and a Doctor of Ministry degree, magna cum laude, from Dallas Theological Seminary. Doctoral dissertation was “Preaching Mark’s Gospel to build discipleship in the congregation.”

  • Pastored growing churches on the mainland and in Hawaii, leading two churches through building campaigns.

  • Planted New Hope Kailua, along with his wife, Martha. His son, Mark, now serves as Lead Pastor.

  • Equipped pastors and leaders for 40 years in an adjunct capacity at Capernwray Harbor Bible School (Canada), International College and Graduate School (Honolulu), Daystar University (Nairobi, Kenya), New Tribes Mission (Papua New Guinea), Bible Institute of Hawaii, and for the last 21 years at Pacific Rim Christian University (Honolulu).

  • Presented discipleship courses at churches in Hawaii, Canada, Australia, Philippines, and Pastor Conferences in China.

  • Author of “40 Days of God’s Kingdom,” written for a spiritual growth campaign at New Hope Kailua. The book is commended by Dr. Bruce Waltke, professor emeritus at Regent College, Vancouver, Dr. Scot McKnight, Houston Theological Seminary, Pastor Chip Ingram, founder and CEO of Living on the Edge discipleship ministry, as well as by numerous pastors in Hawaii including Pastors Wayne Cordeiro and Ralph Moore.
